Executive Director 2011 Annual Report

Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches

The past five years have been marked by intense spiritual pressure and economic challenge in the state where our Lord has strategically placed us as churches.

This intense spiritual pressure has served as a stark reminder that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) The one who wrote these words couched them in the context of these statements: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil… Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:10-11, 13). Talents for Christ 2011 Information Packet

Talents for ChristDear Pastor, Youth Pastor, or Youth Sponsor,

Attached is information regarding our State Talents for Christ competition. Click here to download the information packet PDF. I encourage you to check out the GARBC Talents for Christ website for full details of competition categories, rules, etc.. Also, the GARBC home office has a promotional CD that you can request if interested. The CD will provide you with a lot of helpful tips on promoting TFC with your youth, including a promo video.

Over the past few years, the main change in TFC is the addition of the TFC Open Competition, which allows students to participate who may not compete in the scholarship competition since they are not attending one of the participating colleges. To add incentive to participate in the open category, Lake Ann Camp, Lincoln Lake Baptist Camp and The Springs are all offering scholarships to the State 1st and 2nd place winners. Also, those who have won at the national level in a previous year may compete in a different category in the Open competition.

Included in this information are a couple of pages that you can print and post for your teens to promote the State competition, as well as the registration forms needed to register by March 1st for individual and group open categories. Please make copies for the students and groups to register with. Those who place in the Open Categories who decide to compete at the national GARBC Conference will register for the national competition after the State competition on the GARBC Talents for Christ website (additional fees will apply).

Those participating in the scholarship categories register one time online at the GARBC Talents for Christ website.

Please feel free to Email me.

Equipping Students Through Service,
Ken Pyne, MARBC TFC Director
