Breaking News: God Still Reigns!

God still reigns"God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne." Psalm 47:8

"And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!" Revelation 19:6

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” Matthew 7:24-27

In a time when societies are choosing to establish foundations on shifting sand, it is good for the children of God to remember that God still reigns!

I join with several others who have commented today by saying, "I am a conscientious dissenter from this ruling handed down by the Supreme Court today. I affirm, with millions of others, that marriage is the sacred union of one man and one woman and that it is improper for the Court to redefine an institution it did not invent in the first place."

Marriage is an institution that was created by God thousands of years before the United States or any other culture or nation was founded. (Cf. Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:21-33) Marriage is still God’s creation and therefore cannot be changed to accommodate a different secular philosophy.

As our society continues the debate in the aftermath of Friday’s decision by the United States’ Supreme Court, may the Church and Christians honor their Righteous Judge Who sits on His holy throne. May our posture be that prescribed by the Apostle Peter – “And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit … Who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.” 1 Peter 3:13-18, 22; 4:1-2

As representatives of Jesus Christ, let's keep praying and keep living as “salt and light.” “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 And, let's continue to "contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." Jude 3
