MARBC churches continue to lead the flood relief assistance in the Houghton-Hancock area.
You have no doubt seen the incredible images of last month’s flood that did widespread damage in the Houghton-Hancock area in the western Upper Peninsula. Two MARBC sister churches have families affected by the flooding: Evangel Baptist Church in Houghton and Bethany Baptist Church in Dollar Bay. The MARBC has been in contact with both churches to learn how support them in this time of need.
MARBC sister church, Evangel Baptist Church in Houghton, is located just two blocks west of Michigan Technical University and is strategically situated near the flood region. Their facilities are currently being used as a staging area for flood assistance operations in the region.
Pastor Nate Marsh, associate pastor, shares that they are in need of individuals and groups who can come in the next few days to assist with the clean-up efforts. Those who are willing to help will be processed at the church for clearance to enter the flood zone, receive instruction to understand proper work procedures, and to receive proper identification and equipment for assistance. Please phone 906.233.6621 if you are planning to travel to the area and assist in the clean-up operations.
Those desiring to contribute financially to the regional assistance effort may contribute at the Portage Health Foundation (Hancock, MI) website. Donations to this website will go directly to the regional relief efforts.
Those desiring to share a financial gift to Evangel Baptist Church and Bethany Baptist Church for assisting church families in their recovery efforts may contribute at the MARBC’s website donation link to the left of this article on the homepage. Designate your gift to “CPR Flood Relief.” THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY GIVEN TO THIS IMPORTANT NEED!
Please join us in praying for our sister churches in the Houghton-Hancock region of the western Upper Peninsula as they minister to their communities in the aftermath of the severe flooding that took place on Father’s Day weekend.
