Ministry is draining. Whether it’s the busyness of a growing ministry, the heartache of a ministry in conflict, the struggle of a lethargic ministry, or the needs of a new ministry, each of these demands immense time and utmost attention. When we add to our ministry responsibilities the needs of our own family and friends who have health concerns, exciting life events, and personal needs—not to mention our own needs—quickly it becomes apparent that a life of ministry is exhausting!
We must take time to experience rejuvenation and renewal to keep our ministries moving forward. On a personal level, renewal strengthens our commitment and walk with God, improves our relationships, and enables us to better meet family members’ needs. To care for all these demands, we must cry out, “Lord, renew our strength!”
This year’s GARBC Conference will take a focused look at the renewal that comes from God. Dearborn, Michigan, provides a unique backdrop to experience that renewal. Whether you are a pastoral or missionary ministry family, or a faithful Christian serving Christ in a local church, you are invited to attend this special conference which will emphasize spiritual renewal.
“Renew Our Strength” (Isaiah 40:31) is the theme of the GARBC Annual Conference that will be held June 24-28 in Dearborn, Michigan. The conference will be held at the beautiful facilities of the Adobe Hotel and Convention Center. Details regarding registration, conference opportunities, schedule, GARBC ministry and relevant business, may be accessed at garbcconference.org.
Conference accommodations. Adobe Hotel and Convention Center (formerly the Hyatt) in Dearborn, MI, will serve as this year’s host hotel and Conference Site. This unique conference site was formerly the Hyatt-Dearborn and has been converted into a green hotel, an “eco-friendly” model for the 21st century hotel industry. Staying at the Adoba Hotel and Convention Center helps defray the cost of the conference. Mention the GARBC to get the incredible deal of $99. Adoba Hotel

Main session speakers for this year’s conference include MARBC pastors George Coon, Doug Crawford, and Mark Shaw. Pastors Mike Augsburger (Iowa) and Jon Jenks (Wisconsin), Matt Olson (Northland International University), and John Greening (GARBC) will also speak. A great selection of practical workshops and roundtables will be featured on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Students Alive!” teen conference runs simultaneously to the main conference. This special segment for young people features good times, good friends, and good Bible study. Students Alive points teens to serving Christ at home, at school, and in the community. The Talents For Christ national competition is a featured part of the week.
Children’s Meetings are also featured during the conference. Your children can learn the Bible and have fun, too, in morning and evening programs for Nursery (ages 0–1), Preschool (ages 2–5), and Children (grades 1–6). Child care will be provided during workshop sessions, children 0–5: free
Local attractions. In addition to the great conference sessions and fellowship, there are several great attractions located close to the conference site. A main attraction in close proximity is “The Henry Ford” (thehenryford.org). This complex features three different exhibits:
The Henry Ford Museum: showcases the people and ideas that have fueled imaginations and changed lives. Explore American innovations including the Rosa Parks Bus, Lincoln Chair, Kennedy Limousine, Dymaxion House and Driving America.
Greenfield Village: take a step back in time as you explore the 90-acre + grounds of the Greenfield Village. Experience America’s past including the Wright Brother’s Home and Cycle Shop, Edison’s Menlo Park Laboratory and Model T rides.
Ford Rouge Factory Tour: includes an assembly plant walking tour, historical footage of the automotive industry, legacy gallery of vehicles, and multi-sensory theater experience.
The Henry Ford IMAX Theater is also in the complex and offers dynamic nature and science films.
Several other attractions are close by, including the Detroit Zoo (detroitzoo.org) and Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers will be playing home games vs. the Los Angeles Angels during the week of the conference.
Your help is needed! MARBC local church assistance is needed for the upcoming GARBC Conference. The Local Committee will need numerous volunteers to help assist with the operation of the conference. This includes help with Children’s ministries (grades 1-6, pre-school, and nursery), Ushers, Outreach, and Communications. If you are interested and available to assist during all or part of the conference, contact Ken Floyd for further details (Email 616.364.5688). We thank you in advance for your consideration.
